Night of the Creeps FINALLY coming to DVD!

After 23 years, cult zombie movie favorite Night of the Creeps is FINALLY coming to DVD and Blu-Ray! We reviewed this film last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I’m excited that we’ll finally be able to see it with great picture and sound quality. The DVD will include an alternate ending along with cast and crew commentary and all those other things we’ve come to expect on most DVD releases. Night of the Creeps creeps into your living room October 29, 2009.

Left 4 Dead Cosplay

George emailed to alert us to these awesome Left 4 Dead costumes spotted at this year’s ComicCon: Bill, Zoey, and a Tank, a Witch, and another Zoey. Very cool costumes, but how the heck does the Tank move around?

Flip-top Zombie Shirt

Capcom released a promotional t-shirt for the upcoming Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicle that allows you transform into a zombie! How does that work? Well the face of a zombie is printed on the inside of the shirt, so if you flip the shirt over your head like this it looks like you’re a zombie! Pretty neat, although I see one one potential problem with it – how the heck do you see? This was a giveaway item at Comic-con this year, so unfortunately there doesn’t appear to be a way to purchase one.

Coming 2009 – Edges of Darkness

Edges of Darkness Opening Teaser

I was surprised when this popped up in my rss feeds today – Edges of Darkness DVD release date set. , so intrigued, I dug a little deeper. I was able to find the above trailer and the IMDB page, but other than that, not a whole lot on information, which is a shame because the trailer looks awesome! The DVD is also being distributed by Anchor Bay, which is a fairly major deal for what appears to be a low budget zombie flick. Anyone else hear about this one?

George Romero’s New Movie Finally Gets a Name!

We’ve all known about George Romero’s newest film for some time now and today we finally have a name to go with it: George A. Romero’s Survival of the Dead. The film, which is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, will follow Crocket (one of the characters from Diary of the Dead) as he escapes to an island, only to find himself in the middle of a “Hatfields and McCoys” dispute between two families.

The name “Survival of the Dead” seems significant. As Romero’s series evolves, so to do the zombies. Based on Land of the Dead, it’s clear that the zombies are fighting for their survival – will this film be the epic battle that finally settles things?

Viewers will get the usual chills and thrills, and expect the usual Romero social commentary in this latest installment of his series. There are a few stills as well as a synopsis available on the Toronto International Film Festival website, so be sure to check it out!

Zombie News Roundup

There’s a lot of zombie movie news coming out of Hollywood this week so I’ve compiled these all into a small, bite size portions for your reading enjoyment…

Principal cast for a new zombie film, named Gatekeeper , was announced last week. The project has a few big names attached to, such as Judge Reinhold and Ron Perlman – wait, are those really big names? In the famously low budget genre of most zombie movies, I’d say that they count.

The filmmakers behind the I Spit on Your Rave are looking for participants in yet another “world’s largest zombie gathering” record. The gathering will be used in a scene for the movie, which is a mockumentary about the world’s largest post-zombie-apocalypse music festival (try saying that 5 times fast).

A release date has been set for Resident Evil: Afterlife of September 17th, 2010.

The World War Z movie adaption is apparently still happening with the recent addition of screenwriter Matthew Michael Carnahan to the project. It’s unclear whether he is just tweaking the script or doing a whole re-write, although author Max Brooks is optimistic, saying “He’s one of Hollywood’s hot A-list writers, so if they went after him and paid him a mountain of gold, it definitely shows their confidence in this project.” I concur, Mr. Brooks.

Permuted Press get co-publishing deal with Pocket Books

We’d just like to take a moment and say congratulations to our friends over at Permuted Press. They recently announced a co-publishing deal with Pocket Books! This will give them much wider distribution and bring their line of horror books to a much larger audience. Best of all, the first book to be published is one of my favorites – Day by Day Armageddon by J.L. Bourne. (make sure to check out our review!) Permuted Press has been a big supporter of the ZRC since our early days and we’re very happy for them – good work guys!

Watch A UFO Release Intelligent Spheres

This is really quite amazing. Skip ahead to 4:39… These UFO spheres interact with each other. Another amazing fact is that so many can be released by a craft that’s not much larger than the spheres it’s releasing.

Disc UFO appears in Colorado photo

A photo was taken in Colorado along Route 470 at 6:50 p.m. on July 27, where a disc-shaped object appears in the clouds, according to witness testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

The photographer reports that the object was not seen at the time the photo was taken, but like many other reports of this kind, the object was not noticed until the image was moved to and viewed on a computer.

The anomaly appears to be disc-shaped with a dark edge to the object.
